Leisure and Tourism

 The Leisure and Tourism industry is huge and rapidly expanding. It currently employs over 3 million people in the UK. A Leisure and Tourism GCSE is a really interesting way to make a step up onto the career ladder. The course covers most aspects of the Leisure and Tourism industry including UK and worldwide destinations, transport, promotion and marketing of facilities, sustainability and eco tourism.

 What will the course cover?

  • Unit 1 – Understanding Leisure and Tourism Destinations
  • Unit 2 – The nature of Leisure and Tourism

 

 

Assessment

  • 40 % exam – 1 hour exam in Year 10
  • 60 % coursework – 1 task

 Coursework arrangements  

The nature of Leisure and Tourism will be started in Year 10 and completed in Year 11.  This is a large portfolio with 6 sections completed in class. It will require independent research and visits to local leisure and tourism facilities.
