College Summer Uniform - amendment Created On 02 May 2013
Following student and parental requests, we have made the decision to amend the summer uniform policy with immediate effect.
Students can choose to wear their summer polo shirt only. However, if they choose to wear anything in addition to this it must be their blazer. Jumpers are still permitted, however the top layer must still be the blazer. This applies at all times, including to and from college. | Well Done Everyone and Thank you! Created On 20 Mar 2013
What a successful Bake Off for Comic Relief
We have raised a massive £531.40 for Comic Relief with Frogmore’s Bake Off. With 87 entries and well over 1000 cakes and cookies sold, and an opportunity to have a go at the Harlem Shake we all had an amazing day. Well done Jess Kent and Mrs Yates for being the Star Bakers and thanks to everyone who took part and also to those who bought the goodies. Special thanks to Jack, Joanne and Hannah for organising it. | RED NOSE DAY Created On 11 Feb 2013
THERE WILL BE NO SOGGY BOTTOMS HERE!
‘The Great British Bake Off’ comes to Frogmore on Friday 15th March.
Staff and students are all invited to take part in the Bake Off for Comic Relief. All edible items will be sold afterwards. Please encourage your child to get involved. The idea is to buy a recipe from the Library, (available now) for 50p, bake it, bring it to the Library on the morning of Friday 15th and cross their fingers. (Parental help is allowed and will be actively encouraged!). The delectable Mrs Howells assisted by the tantalising Mr Vaudin and heavenly Mrs Smallwood will be our judges as, sadly, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are unable to attend. There will be two prizes, one for staff and one for students. Have fun!

We are celebrating another record breaking year in our GCSE examination results. The proportion of students gaining five or more higher grades at A* to C rose again this year to an all-time College record of 81% - the first time ever the 80% threshold has been broken. The figure with English and maths also rose by another 3%, which with all the news headlines about tougher marking, especially in English, is a fabulous achievement. Within the excellent headline figures there were some outstanding individual results with many students achieving armfuls of A* and A grades.
We are all delighted that yet again the incredible, hard work, determination and perseverance of our students has paid off. These results are especially significant as not only do they represent the best headline results ever, but again crucially, outstanding progress over the five years at Frogmore.
The year group were determined in the year of the London Olympics to leave behind a legacy, and these record breaking results are certainly that.

We are delighted to be celebrating another record breaking year in our GCSE examination results. The number of students gaining five or more higher grades at A* to C rose a further six percent this year to an all time college record of 78%. Within the excellent headline figures there were some outstanding individual results. Two of the high achievers included Mala Virdee who achieved a superb ten A* and four A grades and Amy McIntosh who achieved nine A* and three A grades. Both are now going to The 6th Form College, Farnborough; Mala to study Physics, Biology, Maths,Chemistry, History and English Literature and Amy to study Human Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Fine Art at A Level. Other high achievers included Amy Oliver with seven A* and five A grade passes, Owen Cassidy who achieved seven A*, four A and one B grade and Jacob Rolston-Royan who amongst his 12 higher grades achieved 10 A’s, six at A*. We are delighted that yet again the incredible hard work, determination and perseverance of our students has paid off. These results are especially significant as not only do they represent the best headline results ever, but more importantly, by far the greatest progress any year group has ever made over their five years at Frogmore. We are particularly delighted with the outstanding results of a few of the students who had to overcome significant barriers to achieve the fabulous results they did. | HAMPSHIRE BOOK AWARDS 2011 Created On 11 Jul 2011
In a period of three months we were given a short list of six books to read. These were: Time Riders by Alex Scarrow
Halo by Zizou Corder
Death Cloud by Andrew Lane
Two Good Thieves by Daniel Finn
Monster Republic by Ben Horton
Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Tim Collins We attended weekly meeting in the library to discuss the books. We were given three points to evaluate the books on, known as the ‘3 Es’. These stood for enrichment, engagement and enjoyment. As we read each book we scored it out of 10 for each of the 3Es.
After twelve weeks of reading, lots of other schools who were also taking part, came to Frogmore. Each school brought about 10 students. We all split up into groups to discuss the different books. At the end of the afternoon we had to enter the book we wanted to vote for onto a slip of paper and place it into the box that had the book on the front. The teachers then counted up the votes and came up with a winner for that day. It was Time Riders.
On Monday 20th June we had to enter the book we wanted to win on a slip of paper and handed it back to our librarians. They counted up the votes and the book with the most votes was entered as our school vote. Two of the boys went to Winchester on the 22nd to join with schools from the whole of the county for discussions and a final vote. The overall winner was Time Riders.
by Becky Reynolds and Aimee Stephens | RED NOSE DAY Created On 04 Apr 2011
Red Nose Day 18th March was a very active and fun day for Frogmore's students and teachers. The school organised a non-uniform day with a twist. The students had the opportunity to wear anything they wanted and do something funny for money. The theme this year was Johnny Depp movies. Many people would think pirates, but one group of students took this opportunity and dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland, they looked absolutely marvellous. This also made the perfect occasion to host a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. They held the party in the Drama Studio at lunch-time where there were also different events such as ‘Teachers in the Stocks’ and a ‘Haribo Eating Contest’ and various raffles. The event was a great success, raising lots of money for Comic Relief.
On the day the school raised £616.30 and money is still being collected. A fantastic achievement! Well done to everybody who dressed up or took part in the events of the day. | Annual General Meeting for the Frogmore College PTA Created On 21 Mar 2011

After months of preparation, the Christmas Concert took place on Wednesday 8th December. Over 30 students took part playing in all manner of groups and solos. After a wonderful introduction from Mr Bird and Miss Smith, the Woodwind group started the evening with ‘Mary’s Boy Child’.
‘In Harmony’ provided a range of songs throughout the night from various West End musicals, Glee and Christmas favourites. Other groups included Year 11 African Drummers who composed the piece themselves, Year 10 performance of Moby’s ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad’, the Bollywood Dancers, the Orchestra, Guitar group and a rousing rendition of ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘I’m A Believer’ by the staff. There were also a large number of soloists – too many to mention here, but Mr Tickner would like to say a huge thank once again to all the performers for their hard work. It was wonderful to see everyone on stage singing alongside the audience in the final number of the evening ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’.
Thanks must also go to Miss Philp, Mrs Harrod (and her wonderful backstage crew), Mr Pepper for preparing the brass duet, the sound crew of Darren and Dan, Mr Hayward for his work with the Guitar group this term, the library staff for ticket sales, reprographics for the preparation of the concert programme, and Miss Smith and Mr Bird for the great compering duties.
The Music Department would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
| FROGMORE TAEKWONDO SUCCESS Created On 30 Nov 2010
On Thursday 25th November a team of budding Taekwondo experts took on the best in the county at the Hampshire Schools’ Taekwondo Championship, held at Hamble Community Sports College.
Taekwondo has its roots steeped in history, claiming a 2000 year old legacy. Recently, however, Taekwondo has increased in popularity as one of the five Olympic combat sports providing Great Britain with an Olympic bronze for athlete Sarah Stevenson.
The team consisted of year 8 students Abdul Ayad, Callum Durban, Jack Hastings, Jordan Harris, Simon Rai and Suraj Rai, and Connor Cowie and Anjan Rai from year 11.
Expectation was high as Frogmore students had been attending after College sessions with Frogmore’s Inclusion Manager and Head Coach of Spitfire Taekwondo Academy, Mark Hayward. After some frantic action, team Frogmore came away with an impressive 5 gold and 2 silver medals cementing their place as serious contenders when Frogmore host the next championships in 2011.

| YEAR 10 ENTERPRISE DAY – ‘COCO MANGO’ Created On 16 Nov 2010
On Monday 15th November Year 10 students participated in an amazing enterprise event entitled ‘Coco Mango’.
Coco Mango is a company who specialise in the manufacturing of natural soap and their company director, plus four staff from First Partnership, facilitated a great day during which teams of students designed their own unique soap, including brand, scent, texture, colour, costing, carbon footprint, packaging and marketing strategy. Each team presented a pitch on their product and the winners from each of four heats made it through to a grand final in the drama studio. The final presentations were all of a very high standard and the decision on the winner was very close indeed. In the end, originality clinched it for the group ‘Ying & Yang’ for their clever two sided his ’n’ hers soap. Congratulations to the winning team: Zara Bielby, Khshnaam Choudary, Stephanie Early, Robert Grig, Ben Roche and Jacob Smith.
All four teams who made it to the final will have their soap put into production and it will then be sold in college at a Christmas fair later in the term. | GLOBAL AWARENESS DAY Created On 15 Nov 2010
On Monday 8th November, Year 8 students took part in a Global Awareness Focus Day. After spending time thinking about what it means to be British, students learnt about life in Kenya. Many of the activities focused on sections from the popular Kenyan soap opera, Makutano Junction, and explored both the similarities and differences between life in Kenya and life in Britain. Many students found that the day challenged a lot of their assumptions about life in an African country. The whole day was a great success, with many thanks to Mr Bird, Mrs Heape, Mr Roberts and Miss Smith for their hard work in preparing for this exciting day. | KS4 PRESENTATION EVENING - 8 November 2010 Created On 11 Nov 2010

Just before Half Term Year 11 students took a day off timetable for a special event preparing them for their transition from Frogmore to the world of work or post-16 education. The day involved personalised planning, CV writing and compiling personal statements together with mock interviews and a post-16 fair. The day was supported by First Partnership who provided the team of interviewers from a wide range of businesses and local post-16 providers. Students attended the conference in smart clothes appropriate for an interview and worked alongside over 30 external guests to make the experience both extremely beneficial and realistic. The students and adults all agreed that the day was huge success. | PTA QUIZ NIGHT Created On 18 Oct 2010
On Friday 19th November at 8pm in the Drama Studio the battle commenced to see which team would be victorious. After a very close contest two teams were level and the decision was made by the Quizmaster that victory would go to the team that had scored the highest in the Marathon round.
The winners = The Governors! | Public Meeting: Sat 16th Oct 5pm Darby Green - The Development of a heavy waste recycling plant at Clark's Farm run by M. Collard Created On 12 Oct 2010
(The site of the previous mushroom farm.) The Environmental Impact report recently published has concluded that there will be no detrimental result to the locality by the planning application previously submitted, to increase the use of this site to recycle heavy waste. However they still intend to have over 50 lorries entering and leaving the site each day. The entrance to Clark’s Farm crosses the cycle path to Frogmore Community College Campus. Many parents use this path with prams and pushchairs, as well as it being used by the children cycling. The Governors and College are very concerned that this is still a significant safety issue. There will be a public meeting on Saturday 16th October at 5pm in the Darby Green Centre. We need to let the officials know the strength of public feeling on this matter and therefore it would be helpful if as many people as possible could attend the meeting to express their views. | Open Evening and Open Days 2010 Created On 04 Oct 2010

An exhibition of artwork has wowed visitors at Frogmore Community College following this year's GCSE submissions.
Art students at Frogmore have received high acclaim for their work in art and photography which this year centred on the theme of messages.
A display of the artwork was opened to parents, governors and pupils from other local schools, with a number of works expected to be put on permanent display around the school.
Works on display spanned a wide range of art forms, including sculpture, mixed media and glasswork, with many pieces conveying provoking messages on issues such as safe sex and women's rights.
Head of Art Ruth McIlwraith said she had been hugely impressed with what she described as the "high level" of art on display this year.
She also gave thanks to photography tutor Janine Matthews for her sterling work with students over the year.
She said "This year's entries have all been of an impressive standard and although not yet graded we have high hopes for the students.
"I was very impressed with the mature and insightful way many of the students approached social issues as part of the messages theme, and can't wait to see the art distributed around the school." | Frogmore Ofsted 2010 Created On 01 Apr 2010
