Design Technology at Frogmore Community College is dynamic, exciting and encourages innovative thinking. Throughout Key Stage 3 students have the opportunity to study all areas of Technology including Resistant Materials, Graphic Products, Textiles Technology or Food Technology. Undertaking many different projects including learning about Healthy Eating, making Board games and even designing and making textile puppets. The students will experience numerious tools, machinery and processes throughout their KS3 in all areas of the Technology curriculum in order to make an informed decision for their GCSE studies.
At GCSE they will have an option to study Food Technology, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials or Textiles Technology in which they will undertake a coursework task counting for 60% or their grade and a written examination worth 40%.
Resistant Materials will give students a grounding in many of the practical skills in a number of different areas. Students also experience consumer and manufacturing responsibilities.
Students develop a range of different skills that will be transferable to other subjects and relate to industry and future employment.
